Visit to Newcastle Jul 2008

Hi there , We have just returned from our trip North of Sydney to Newcastle to see our friend Mark (Hol's Godfather!). We had an absolutely fantastic time and really saw what living in Australia is all about.... the beach! We bodyboarded on 2 different beaches on Sat and Sunday which was amazing - it is the middle of winter here and the water is still warm. We could have stayed in forever, however a rip tide got the better of Holly which sent me (Sal) swimming hard to catch her and then getting caught in it too as I reached her. To cut a longish story short, Katie looked after Immi on the beach as Paul made a 'daring' rescue after me and Hols, eventually bringing us into safety - thank heavens for Llandudno Swimming Club... Nana and Grandad - all those early mornings and competitions certainly paid dividends this weekend!!! Not to put us off we made it back into the water again the next day perhaps a little more cautious and respectful of the ocean!! Oh yes... and then Paul quietly beckoned me towards him half way through the afternoon to let me know there was a fin going up and down about 5 metres behind me!!!! Luckily the fin turned into 2 and we are pretty sure they were dolphins..... WELCOME TO AUSTRALIA!

The girls loved every minute and, as you can see, we have increased our family by one for the next 6 months as we are looking after Chester, Mark's dog. He is lovely and travelled the 5 hours back with us settling into Dorsett land with ease.

We looked after Olivia and Max the poodle yesterday for an overnight - we took them to the Lake - thought I needed to explain who was in the push chair - not another Dorsett thank heavens, you can relax Mum!

Sal and Hols not coping with a cold July!

Hi there everyone, another weekend in Canberra has gone by and another cold one at that! Still can't quite get used to this chilly July weather - went out for the morning today to a small town half way to the coast called Bungendore, came back to a freezing cold house and we are all now in jumpers, scarves and hats... heating is expensive here and it goes straight out the windows! Holly has now had her tooth out - very brave with 3 injections in her top gum - see photo. We are all getting back into climbing as we have found a wall about 5 mins from home - the girls are loving it again and we hope to get Immi up on Tue - that will be interesting. We are off to Newcastle(North of Sydney and on the coast) on Thu for a long weekend so will have lots of pictures to show you. Hope all is well, much love from us all.xxx

Home from Home

3 Myrtle Close

Paul's Retreat!!!!

Family Room

View from Bedroom

Kitchen/Family Room

Many of you have asked that we post some photos of our new pad, so here they are. A little different to our last few houses as you can see - these houses are certainly designed for the warmer weather as we are finding it all a bit cold here at night. We are nearly there as far as the inside goes ad the girls are happy on the trampoline outside as, although the house inside is big, they don't do the big garden thing here. Paul is loving his shed (Glenn), come over and you can join him in it!!! Girls are about to break for 2 weeks holidays so we will have more to say then - Hols having a tooth out and a trip to Newcastle in a couple of weeks time. Much love as always - S,P,K,H&I XXX

Stop Press: I saw it snow/sleet in Canberra today!!! More forcast for the hills this weekend so will be off skiing soon- BUT IT'S SUMMER???
