ANZAC Weekend

Chocolate Croissant to end the day and calm the kid's nerves!..and no, they can't eat them in the car.
Only 45mins from home and no tarmac to be seen.

Katie putting on a brave face!...we were not competely lost, but the tracks you can see are the ones we made 20mins earlier.  TomTom just went to white screen, so it was Sal and the Map!

Immi going to party - butter wouldn't melt.

The Winter project - bit of extra decking and a Pool - with just 5c today, we should have the first ice hockey match in July.
Dawn Service at the Australian War Memorial - 0530 but if you want a seat get there by 0430!

Hi Folks, Paul here and its my first Blog so please forgive any deliberate errors or the boredom that I induce.

We have just had our second ANZAC Day and it was probably a bigger National Event than last year, despite the poor weather.  It always amazes me when I see the range of age groups that attend the services and its routine to see Primary school kids wearing their Grand Father’s Medals on their coats. Service started at 0530, so we managed to get back home and back into bed by 0630…Sal was still defrosting at 9am.

The long weekend was filled with the usual selection of kid’s school friends parties and yet more gardening…should be finished by early 2010.  Also managed to drive into the outback. Aus is covered by tracks which are open to everyone to get lost at their leisure.

Having read the car’s manual, I decided it was time to try the “Bells and Whistles” in true Top Gear fashion….but with wife and 3 children on board. Got map and headed to the hills - leaving the Tarmac and selecting some gadget thing that ensures the car does what is required, rather than what the novice driver asked it to do, we headed into the Outback.  With 3 days of heavy rain, the red ground was fairly muddy but the car pushed on effortlessly and I soon felt that we were going further than any Holden or Ford Ute had gone before…. this was sadly disproved, as we rounded a muddy corner to find a Ford Fiesta parked and the chap out waking his dog!  It was a great little adventure, the girls loved it eventually and we look forward to doing more.

Happy Easter 2009

MARSHMALLOWS BY THE BARBIE

PAUL'S BIRTHDAY

EASTER MORNING

GIRLS EASTER HUNT

ICECREAMS ALL ROUND ON THE WAY HOME
Hi everyone, We had a lovely Easter - camping once again for 4 days over the 'Public'(Bank) Holiday. We try to retain the old traditions - Easter Eggs at breakfast and an Easter Hunt round the campsite! The girls loved it as we also went with some Aussie friends - Pat, Jodie and daughter Gracie who is nearly 12. Pippa and Steve joined us too which made it a true Aussie/Brit holiday with lots of banter as Paul was presented with an Aussie Flag towel for his birthday - 10th April. We surfed and body boarded for 2 days in lovely hot Autumn weather and the highlight for me was looking at the 'Southern Cross' stars at night and trying to work out the differences to the Northern Hemisphere. We miss you all as always, but I look forward to seeing you soon - not long now! xx

5K Charity Run- 5 April 2009

Katie, Holly and I took part in a Ladies 5K Charity Run on Sunday. We ran round Lake Burley Griffin and had a great time - well, I did as a proud mum! They both finished in a great time and ran all the way round without any walking- good for Holly as she had never done anything so far in her life. We came 334, 335 and 336th out of 1330 participants and I think Hols may have been the quickest for her age. A lovely day and I am hoping that the memories of the puffing and panting will fade in time for us to enter the Mother's Day Race in May!!

Our New Addition

Hi there - not been on for a while, but here now and we have lots to tell! We have a new kitten called Jazz who is now 8 weeks old - 6 when we had her. For anyone who remembers our old tabby..........Derek! She is just like him but a bit longer haired and a not so good name!!! She has just walked across the keyboard of my laptop and crashed the whole thing - very like Derek!!
