Wagga Wagga Dance Festival - Sep 11

Wagga Wagga Eisteddfod and its full on for the Dorsett Girls.  Multiple troope dances and solos for all, including Immi’s first Solo – ‘little Red Rapping Hood’

With Troope dances spread over a weekend and solos lasting Mon-Thu, with different girls every day we had a lot of juggling to do with runs to and from Canberra (3hrs away) to ensure they still attended school when they could.

With so many different dances to perform, the planning for outfits started months before and Sal spent 2 weeks sewing sequins and braid before the event. All of the planning and preparation was so worth it – Immi was fantastic and thrived on the stage.  Holly’s troop performances were great and her solo dances were done with breathtaking emotion, a performance that got her the trophy for the ‘most dramatic demi character Age 12 and under’....2 years of lessons and 10 years of practise have finally been recognised!

Despite having very limited time to polish her routines, Katie was brilliant.
She entered 5 solo dances across all disciplines and won 4 of them.
...the first she was taught, from scratch, in Canberra the night before.

Renovations - Driveway almost done.

A few before and after shots of the drieway.

Rains in Nov '10 washed away much of the old driveway
and it has taken a bit of time and effort (DIY)
to finally get things sorted, and ready for the next rains.

1 large storm drain, 100 railway sleepers,
secured with 200 pickets, filled in with 60m3 of stone.

Before the rains and before I knew anything about driveways!

Solar lights drilled into sleepers - 1st hole blew up my 12yr old Bosch drill (not before time), replacement drill (father's day present) did 12 holes until it also stopped! I finished the remaining 28 holes with a bosh replacement, replacement drill......I love it when a simple job goes without a hitch.

Spare bedroom WIR and shower room next, how hard can it be!!

Ski Trip Aug 2011

A great snow season this year in Aus and perfect weather for our first trip of 2011.

Thredbo 'Friday Flat' as busy as ever with those taking to the snow for the first time.
I'm so glad that we are all through this stage.

Immi joined us for the end on the second day....a little over confident, but it was great to ski as a family.

Holly, in the full pink outfit this year.

Immi on one of the few occasions when she wasn't just trying to go straight to the bottom in one screaming snowplough, accompanied by shouts 'TURN!' from Sal and I.

Girls Doing Well

Immi receives the Principals Award......well done 'Bim Bom' xx

Holly represents school in athletics.......no training, no previous, no plan, no idea!!??

 Crazy Friends.
OMG! First in high jump!!!...

Next week she will be competing at the Australian Institute of Sport.........after which I will be managing all appointments, public appearances and sponsorship deals.

Christmas in July!?

Noting that Christmas down under means tackling a roast dinner on a day that is routinely over 35c - just ‘wrong’.  We had Christmas in July with temperatures a more ‘festive’ 10c.
Traditional Christmas buffet in both menu and excessive quantity,
accompanied by lashings of fine beverage and full Christmas decorations.

Treasure hunt for the Kids, which due to a few lost clues (I think the dog ate them) – turned 10 minutes of fun into a 45 minute slog for some.
No clues = no prizes, now go back and look harder!!

Wilson enjoys a few tasty bubbles,  delicious !

Dance Competition

Katie and Holly enter their solo dances in a local competition. Both did very well.

Lots of emotion from Holly as the little match girl.....my god, she can act – Jackie the dance teacher had tears in her eyes at the end of the dance!

Katie was one of the youngest in her 13yrs and over contemporary category,
but got 3rd out of 17 dancers. Well done No 1.
